STONE BIJ KINK IN TOUCH: 'We just finished the debutalbum, we made a rock 'n roll album'

DEBUUTALBUM VAN STONE

Het gaat hard met de Britse band STONE. Van shows op Rock Werchter en Into The Great Wide Open tot een show in Paradiso en komend jaar een uitverkochte Tolhuistuin. Op Instagram liet de band zien vaak in Amerika te zijn, en dat heeft een reden. Fin Power, frontman van STONE vertelt: 'We just finished the album, Jasper. We were in Vermont, the state of Vermont, by a little town called Brattleboro. And that's because we were recording with a guy called Rich Costey, he lives out there.' Rich Costey is geen onbekende in de muziekwereld. Zo produceerde hij albums voor Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party, Jimmy Eat World, My Chemical Romance, Supergrass, Audioslave, Rage Against The Machine en werkte hij mee aan Simulation Theory van Muse.

Power vervolgt: 'Rich Kostein's a legend of the game. He's recorded some of our favorite bands. He came down to London in 2022, and we did a couple songs with him. And then it was always that when we go and record him again, we'll go to his place in America. And it was in the forest, in the woods of Vermont. It was beautiful. And that's where he wanted to record it. And that's where his station is. So we went out there and made a rock and roll album'.

LOVE SONGS

Voor het debuutalbum heeft STONE de tijd genomen, en het voelt voor de band als een stap vooruit. Zanger Fin vertelt: 'The album definitely steps into new territory. Definitely steps into, like, I think the kind of songs that we've held back purposefully for this moment'. Ook wat onderwerpen betreft gaat STONE een andere kant op: 'Probably there's like love songs on the album. I was saying this last time, you know, there's love songs. You know, we've never released a love song. There's a lot more sensitivity on the album. There's slow music. There's some of our hardest rock anthems. I think it's just the best we've got yet. I think it's just, you know, it's still Stone in our essence, but we've took a step. We've taken a step forward and it's our best foot forward.'

NEDERLANDSE SHOWS

Inmiddels is STONE al vaker te zien geweest in Nederland, zoals onlangs in Paradiso. En die show beviel goed vertelt de band bij KINK IN TOUCH: 'It was amazing. It was like it was like our own show. Everyone knew the words. Everyone was jumping up and down.
But look, we've just announced the, is it Tolhuistuin? And we sold it out like that. So. Yeah, really quick. Really, really quick. What's that? Yeah, we love the Netherlands. It's great to have a sort of foot in here and have a little foothold here and a community of fans out here is just like, you know, Scousers.'
