Voor de wekelijkse Off Air Interviews van Live & Puur schoof Hanne deze week aan met Good Rifles. Niet in een donkere backstage of rumoerige oefenruimte, maar (of all places) in de bibliotheek. Tussen de bladmuziek, dat dan weer wel. Een onverwachte setting voor een band die barst van energie, maar juist daardoor ontstond een gesprek dat net zo gelaagd was als hun muziek.

Good Rifles is een band die draait om vinden: elkaar vinden, een gezamenlijke sound vinden en vooral een gedeelde drive om muziek te maken die ergens voor staat. Inmiddels hebben de heren drie releases op hun naam staan en alles wijst erop dat dit pas het begin is. Er zit nog veel moois in de pijplijn, en dat voel je in alles wat ze vertellen.

We spraken over hun invloeden en over de vraag waarom juist deze muziek hen samenbracht. Over wat muziek voor hen betekent, niet alleen als eindproduct, maar vooral als proces: schrijven, zoeken, schaven en spelen. Ook de bandnaam kwam uiteraard voorbij, net als de weg die hen hier bracht. Wat het gesprek zo bijzonder maakte, was de hoorbare passie voor muziek en voor het maken ervan. Geen grootspraak, maar oprechte liefde voor het ambacht en de emotie die erin schuilt.

Good Rifles liet zien dat sterke muziek niet afhankelijk is van de plek waar je erover praat. Of dat nu een podium is of een bibliotheek: hun verhaal klinkt luid en duidelijk. En geloof ons, hier ga je nog veel van horen.

For this week’s Off Air Interviews for Live & Puur, Hanne sat down with Good Rifles. Not in a dark backstage area or a noisy rehearsal space, but (of all places) in a library. Surrounded by sheet music, that at least felt fitting. An unexpected setting for a band bursting with energy, yet it created a conversation that was just as layered as their music.

Good Rifles is a band built on finding things: finding each other, finding a shared sound, and above all a common drive to make music that actually means something. By now, the band has three releases to their name, and all signs point to this being just the beginning. There is plenty more to come, and you can hear that promise in the way they speak about what lies ahead.

We talked about their influences and about why this particular kind of music brought them together. About what music means to them, not only as a finished product, but especially as a process: writing, searching, refining and playing. Of course, we also discussed the origin of the band’s name and the road that led them here. What made the conversation truly special was the unmistakable passion for music and for making it. No big talk, just a genuine love for the craft and the emotion it carries.

Good Rifles showed that strong music is not defined by the place where you talk about it. Whether it’s on a stage or in a library, their story rings out loud and clear. And trust us, this is a band you’ll be hearing a lot more from.
